Actually. 2 l's, I believe.

...and Dick's burgers which has offered a scholarship program for quite a number of years prior to Starbucks. come'on, Ansel, it's a very local referent. why prefer lauding Walmart to Dick's?
3
Lots of companies have offered programs like this, but contributing nothing to it might be a first.

Starbucks sadly demonstrates through this dishonest re-branding of an already established University program that their brand magic spit shine formula, when applied to their tens of thousands of underpaid "baristas," continues the organizations's flaunting, gross perversion of American labor.

"The company isn't contributing any money to its "free college" program"

Not. At. All. True.

More ignorance and dishonesty from The Strangerï»ż. Hardly shocking.

The Stranger WILL pay for ANY out of pocket costs for juniors/seniors after they take more than 22 hours of courses.

So, again. You're wrong. Willfully or through ignorance, what you're doing is telling mistruths, which then others will parrot and you're creating an army of the ignorant.

"The Seattle-based company this week unveiled a benefit that is designed to let college juniors and seniors complete their degrees at Arizona State, with all of the costs covered."
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/06/19…

"1) To receive the full benefit, an employee must be a college junior or senior. The benefit includes an upfront scholarship to cover part of tuition costs—it’s unclear how large these scholarships will be. Then, each time a junior or senior completes 21 credits, he will be reimbursed for the full cost of tuition and fees for the credits–provided he’s remained eligible for benefits (i.e. work 20 hours a week)."

"The company’s new program is far more generous and is intended to address high college drop-out rates, given the financial struggles many face in finishing college.Under the College Achievement Plan, Starbucks employees who work at least 20 hours a week will receive full tuition reimbursement if they enroll in Arizona State University's online program as juniors or seniors,"

Took me all of 40 seconds to find, cut and paste that information.

Are there ANY adults left at The Stranger at all? Maybe ONE fact checker?

$5 latte

x 365 days per year

x 20 years

= $36,500

Seven in 10 college seniors (71%) who graduated last year had student loan debt, with an average of $29,400 per borrower. From 2008 to 2012, debt at graduation (federal and private loans combined) increased an average of six percent each year.

Well, at least their coffee still sucks.
8
What a scam.

Also... ASU is practically a half way house, not a university. Let's be honest, this is a GED 2.0.

@9

ya, says the person who barely got through the shit school known as Seattle Central CC....
11
Doesn't this directly contradict what the CEO said on the Daily Show? What's up with that?

ASU has Nobel Prize winning professors. It's a Research I university. There are more than 50,000 students with the law school and grad schools. Some students are on the in-state scholarship program, some are there to party as you suggest. Big school.

@11, Howard Schultz at 0:43 said, "Starbucks is the first US company to provide free college tuition to all our employees." To me, that is a lie.
