While everyone is talking about legal pot (which is a good thing), THIS is the real big-picture news. Anti-gay "Christians" are taking their big Hobby Lobby win and running with it. We ALL need to be vigilant and politically active (or at least politically aware), fighting them. They will not win, and we can hasten their inevitable defeat if we work hard and keep on this. Thanks Dan for bringing this to our attention.

In other "enn-duh" news, several Washington Congress-critters who voted to extend the indefinite-detention provisions of the currently operative National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) are in contested primaries on Aug. 5th. They are:

- Jaime Herrera Beutler, Incumbent, 3rd Congressional District, facing Michael Delavar in Republican primary

- Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Incumbent, 5th Congressional District, facing Tom Horne in the Republican primary

- Adam Smith, Incumbent, 9th Congressional District, facing Don Rivers in the Democratic primary

Women and Gay people of both sexes will vote with their feet: NOT walking into these businesses to work or to buy and then after a while we will see less talk about opting out because of religion. When they find the talent they need to run their businesses won't work for them and the people with lots of money won't buy from them, things will change.

@3 The problem is that a lot of "business" isn't retail. It's manufacturing, supply, logistics, etc. How do you boycott a company that provides the ink for the paper company that makes grocery sacks for Safeway? Or the corporation that distributes the brackets that hold your car's brake shoes together?
Public pressure in the marketplace is fine - more than fine - and it works for large and easily boycotted retailers. But this MUST be fixed at the legislative level so the result is realized across the board, not just with familiar, strip mall brand names.

I'm going to start a business so I refuse to hire Christians. And Republicans. And Teabaggers. And Mormons. And reproductive rights foes. Hell, I'm gonna refuse to hire opposite sex marrieds too. My God tells me such scum are to be shunned.
