Taso Lagos—a relative non-threat to incumbent city council member Jean Godden—looks ready to drop out of the race for a council seat representing District 4, which covers northeast Seattle from Lake Union to Sand Point, including the U-District.

Lagos, who directs a University of Washington study abroad program and whose family ran the now shuttered Continental, says he's "suspending" his campaign today and will likely endorse another candidate and leave the race soon.

With only $3,300 raised and no permanent residence in the city, Lagos wasn't shaping up to be a very formidable challenge to Godden or her two main opponents, Rob Johnson and Michael Maddux.

Lagos told me in a phone call this morning he had trouble balancing the campaign with raising a newborn baby. He also got a lot of questions about that whole residency thing and where he really spends his time. Lagos says he splits his time between two houses—one in Snohomish and one in Seattle's Maple Leaf neighborhood.

"Those issues really began to get at me," he said.
