I'm hoping that this holy-grail album by Gil Mellé is at the Big Dig.

One of the highlights of record collectors' year, the Big Dig Record Show, happens Saturday, May 16, at Vermillion Art Gallery and Bar (3 pm-7 pm, $3; early entry at 1 pm, $10). The Big Dig is run by the knowledgeable, analog-loving DJs/music scholars who put on the DUG monthly at Lo-Fi. As is tradition, there'll be 20 savvy dealers from the Northwest and California selling vinyl in almost every genre, so let's hope you didn't blow your budget on Record Store Day. In addition, local DJs of many stripes—including this blogger—will be spinning records all day in the back room, and even though this is an all-ages event, the bar will be serving, too. If you're lucky, you might catch Emerald City Soul Club selector and Slogger Mike Nipper scrutinizing the inner labels of obscure northern soul 45s; he's way less "insufferable" IRL than on Slog Out, y'all. Get more info about the Big Dig here. UPDATE: Lake City Record Show is also happening Sunday, April 26, 10 am-4 pm, at Lake City Community Center (12531 28th Ave. NE).
