As with Shell's Noble Discoverer, which arrived at the Port of Everett earlier this week, the progress of Shell's Polar Pioneer is being tracked by people on land, sea, and Twitter as the drilling rig heads toward the Port of Seattle's Terminal 5.
Slog tipper Todd provided the above photo of the Polar Pioneer passing Port Townsend. And there's a lot of other Polar Pioneer tracking going on out there. Current estimated arrival time in Elliott Bay: 2 p.m.
The Stranger's Sydney Brownstone and Heidi Groover will be out there in a kayak to see what happens as the "Paddle in Seattle" (aka the "Festival of Resistance") begins.
But for now: Seattle! Where news helicopters track Arctic drilling ships the way Los Angeles news helicopters track car chases.
