Gee, what a shock.

Wasn't the person who was pepper-sprayed refusing to get out of the street after 4 or 5 commands to move?
3
@2. What you said. The 1st Amendment does not guarantee the right to block traffic (which is what allows others to move to their chosen assemblies and speeches with others).

@2. I guess you didn't follow the link and watch the video. The person sprayed was using the crosswalk and on the side walk at the time they were sprayed. Moreover it, looks as if the officer doing the spraying wasn't aware of who they were spraying but simply deploying the pepper spray like air freshener.

this is the same pig cop that uses indiscriminate flash bangs on demonstrators even after killing a 21-year-old woman with a flash bang in Boston?

This entire state is suffused in corruption.

At some point marshal law may be necessary to curtail the excesses of graft, corruption and incompetence.

Thanks for your work, Ansel. I think those of us that were injured by blast balls while being completely non-violent and non-confrontational on May Day-- and in previous protests-- had hoped the media would make some effort to tell the truth about our injuries and the failure of SPD command staff to stop the unnecessary violence we continue to see from the department. Most local media have failed to do that but your work is helping to raise awareness of very important issues in Seattle that impact everyone who comes in contact with SPD. I look forward to reading more articles and hope we can chat sometime soon.

She's also not thrilled about the concept of an elected, independent citizen review board that would replace the current Iffice if Police [Non] Accountability that since it's inception has vindicated SPD officers in 100% of the complaints filed against them. We need real police reform, but we're unlikely get it from Murray and O'Toole.

Did O'Toole or whomever really use the word "totally" twice in one paragraph? Who writes this stuff???

However, a good point is made: "Right now we are working very collaboratively with the federal monitor, the US Attorney, and the DOJ civil rights division." If they are doing that in good faith, that might be sufficient.

By the way, I have photos of undercover cops taking pictures and video of protesters and marchers, and I'm happy to share them, from at least two demonstrations. They're pretty obvious when you catch them recording the crowd.

@10 I'd love to see.

@8 Agree Thanks Ansel Lets bring back true Journalism All sides voiced Not PR spins Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press. There are good cops & bad. Good protesters & bad. Arrest them if they are violent & destructive but don't use violence and excessive force if they are not! One citizen arrested had nothing but school books in his backpack? WEAPONS?
@5 Just the leader I want protecting & serving! Someone who KNOWS the dangers and then continues to use such "non lethal" methods. SERIOUSLY!
@9 Foxes watching the hen house is never a good idea. Citizen review committee better proposal
