Congratulations to young New Orleans jazz maestro Jon Batiste, who has been named the bandleader for CBS's The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which will begin airing September 8. Though the Stranger was not consulted about this decision directly (unless Fearless Leader has something he'd like to share with the rest of the class), our approval was tacit, based on the time in October, 2013 when Mr. Batiste and his band enlivened our humble offices with an impromptu performance before a show at the Neptune.
