Pearl, on the left, who made the top three on the most recent season of Drag Race, being interviewed onstage at R Place a few months ago by Robbie Turner.
I took this crappy cell-phone pic of RuPaul's Drag Race star Pearl, on the left, not in drag, and Robbie Turner, host of the RuPaul's Drag Race watching party at R Place. Robbie's one of the queens people are whispering about. Christopher Frizzelle

It's that time of the year again, gaylords. That time of the year when drag queens suddenly get raptured. (Ru-ptured?) If past summers are any indication, RuPaul's Drag Race starts filming right about now for next year's show, and June and July are when drag queens who are on the show (who have to sign all kinds of nondisclosure paperwork) just kinda vanish for about a month.

Seattle Gay Scene is "reporting" the rumor that Robbie Turner has made it onto the next season of RuPaul's Drag Race, although I put "reporting" in quotes because their source seems to be Reddit. Is that reporting?

The official word is that Robbie Turner "broke her ankle," and that's why she's not making her usual appearances at R Place right now. There is also official word from James Majesty that she's taking some time off right now, so everyone's all like, "Oh hell no." I've seen both of those queens perform, and they're good. I would not be surprised if they're both in LA working their asses off right now.

Who knows. Who can say. There is always secrecy around The Only Good Reality Show on TV™. I remember years ago, after Jinkx Monsoon disappeared for a while, trying to get her to tell me if she'd made it on the show, because she'd also suddenly had to be out of town at an inopportune moment, and she wouldn't say a word. (And she knew by that point that she'd made it into the top three.) I remember the next year trying to ask BenDeLaCreme to confirm or deny the same thing, and all I got was a look like, "I don't know what you're talking about." You do not cross Ru.

For what it's worth: I would never in a million years cross Ru, either. RuPaul is my Oprah. If you have any doubts about RuPaul's brilliance, listen to this Mark Maron interview.

In closing, here's another crappy cell-phone photo of Pearl and Robbie Turner.
