The rapper and Republican 50 Cent, who filed for bankruptcy not long ago and has been musically irrelevant for a good decade, posted on Instagram that his house in Africa is almost completed. It seems no one knew he was building such digs to begin with. 50 also neglected to mention the exact location of his new palace. It is just somewhere in Africa.

The video shows a pool that looks much like the one my family had in Zimbabwe (I wrote about it here). But the trees in 50's smartphone footage appear to be too tropical for grassy Zimbabwe or a southern African country. Countries that have that kind of vegetation (where big trees are kings) are found in Central and West Africa.

But the eerie thing in all of this bizarre business is the appearance of the laborers working on the African mansion. What is easily (and uncomfortably) recalled from the manner of their movement are slaves on a plantation.
