This bull moose fight happened in the place its supposed to happen: the wild.

In the age of the planet of the human ape (also known as the anthropocene), the line between us and the wild becomes less and less visible. What once happened outside, now happens inside. Back in the day, you would have to leave a city to see two male moose antler-clash during mating season, which is from mid-September to mid-October.

Now it happens in your driveway. Watch.

When a male moose is in a fight, all that matters is beating his opponent. The whole world for this animal is reduced to just one thing: the other animal. In the way the wild (trees, bushes, rivers) can vanish from the minds of moose in a battle, so can a city (SUVs, fire hydrants, sidewalk). “They pretty much have no idea where they are, they are so totally focused on each other,” says Kristine M. Rines, a moose biologist quoted by National Geographic.

The moose battle in this video happened in the suburbs of Anchorage, Alaska, a city with 300,000 humans.

More people in Alaska are injured by moose than by bears.
