The Karl Blau Emergency Fund has received impressive support in its first week.

A week ago, as we noted on Slog, revered Pacific Northwestern musician Karl Blau lost his recording space and musical gear in a fire that destroyed Anacortes Music Channel, which had become a cultural hub in that city. In the time since then, though, the GoFundMe campaign started to help Blau regain his livelihood has raised almost $25,000 out of the projected $30,000. Organizer Clyde Petersen—who is also a Stranger Film Genius nominee and Blau's bandmate in Your Heart Breaks—wrote on the Karl Blau Emergency Fund page, "Word is that about 20 people joined together to clean the place out today, hunting for objects that remain intact. There is alot more work to be done up there but this funding helps.... We will add updates as more information becomes available." (Blau has not responded to a request for comment.) You can contribute to the fund here. After the jump, have a listen to Blau's reggae version of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a.
