Here's the latest Slab Session from Pickathon! We've posted a few of these already—intimate performances that were shot at last summer's Pickathon on the mythic "slab" at Pendarvis Farm, a short hop away from the rest of the festival. This new clip is a very special one, featuring a stripped-down, brand-new track from Summer Cannibals. "Simple Life" is actually an as-of-now unreleased song from the Portland group, with this rendition serving as a premiere of sorts. It features only guitarist/vocalist Jessica Boudreaux and guitarist Marc Swart, and it captures a moment in time—the group has since undergone a significant lineup change with the recent departure of Swart, but I imagine that a studio version of "Simple Life" is likely to be included in the group's next project.

Last week Pickathon announced a couple of worthy additions to their lineup, including a reformed Wolf Parade in what is right now their only scheduled festival appearance in the US, and Kevin Morby, a terrific singer/songwriter and a Pickathon veteran who we've featured before in these Slab Sessions. This episode was made possible by the folks at New Belgium Brewing and was shot by Half Stop Sessions. Meanwhile, tickets for 2016's Pickathon—featuring Jeff Tweedy, Beach House, Yo La Tengo, and many more—are for sale at the fest's website.
