After 26 Years, History Catches Up to Bailey/Coy Books

Fuuuuck.

Everything I liked about Seattle is gone gone gone!

I remember when the stranger had a section that listed the places that died or were about to, now that's gone too!

I used to shop at the Chinatown Market but that shut down, so did Grocery Outlet down on Rainer, The Soap Box in the U-District, the Fun Forest is dead...

WTF! If it weren't for the ability to look at the water, Seattle would be just like anywhere else.

It's already too damn expensive to live in.

Sweet article, David.

It's a sad day when such a great bookstore closes. Thanks for all the years!

Another huge loss for Broadway and for all of the people who loved Bailey/Coy. They always made me feel special there.

*sob*

*lighting a mini vigil bonfire using all my unused bailey-coy bonus cards occupying my bookshelves as bookmarks... about 30 of those little buggers lying about*

Add:
Also had much love for their graphic novel section: they understood (and stocked) what grownups wanted in one (I picked up all my copies of Love & Rockets, Powers, Maus series and Scott Macclouds' Understanding/Making/Inventing Comics series at Bailey Coy).

*sigh*

All of Broadway can now be moved to Whitecenter. What would the difference be?

Oh no!...

I'm so out of the loop! I hadn't been there in months, but, was looking forward to my annual One-Stop_Xmas-Shop excursion, (preceded by my annual, really annoying phone call to Michael... "Ummm... and what about my brother-in-law?... You know, something philosophical, but, action-packed!"... much to his disdain... ;) )

It was an awesome run! But, it was also a place where staff and customers became friends... That says more to me about a place, than just about anything else could.

I'm so sorry I missed the Wake... But, I must protest the choice of Miss Dina Martina as "entertainment"... Hardly a wise choice for what I am sure was a very solemn event!

I will miss the shop... a lot.
