Tucker Max and George W. Bush Are Basically the Same Person

nice one Paul
2
And the difference between Tucker, Georgie, and Paul?

The first two can actually write something that will sell.

Keep giving it away Paul, let them have a taste, get them hooked, then take all their money. MWAHAHAHAHA!!!

What? You get paid to scan the free pages at Amazon.com, and then write about it? Hook a brother up with a job. Share the wealth.

That last line is gold.

every last word tucker max writes is a lie, including 'the', 'and' and 'a'. (thank you, mary mccarthy.)
5
This is a very nicely written review.
6
@2: Except for the fact that GWB had a ghostwriter while Paul has the skill to be able to write for himself.

Wonderful review.

Oh, look, the Stranger is doing political commentary again. And it is at the level of freshmen year...at a local community college...art class.

Shocking.
8
Nicely written, Paul.

I can't imagine subjecting myself to reading both of these. What did you read to cleanse your palate?
9
Who's Tucker Max? (I don't care enough to look it up to find out.)
10
I'm with #8, do tell.

And what do you think about the discovery that much of W's book is plagiarized, Paul?

there is much to abhor about the W presidency. but i can't quite get to the place where i honestly concieve of W as a genuinely evil/bad/malevolent human being. he is a tragic figure to me. tragically, profoundly, mind-boggingly mediocre in the job that can only be managed by a truly extraordinary individual. it isn't even quite ineptness, though it does dip that at times. it's a crushing regularness of intellect, curiosity, creativity, politicking, diplomacy and skills that, when placed in the most influential job in the world, resulted in some really terrible stuff.

maybe it's my coping mechanism, choosing to see him as tragic and a little bit sad instead of evil. somehow that's easier to bear.

I personally like reading Tucker Max. I've been reading his blog since I was in college. While there are some innocent bystanders, most of the sexploits covered are things that happen with dual consent. Also, by the time Assholes Finish First was published, those people knew what they were getting into by being with TM.
I doubt anyone knew the mess that the US would be in by the end of W's presidency. Also, I agree a bit with #11. I don't think he was/is an actively bad person. He was totally unqualified to be a president or make rational decisions that affect a nation of people, but I don't believe he did it with malicious intent. I think he really does believe he did what was best, even though *almost* everyone knows otherwise.

@12 "While there are some innocent bystanders, most of the sexploits covered are things that happen with dual consent."

Clearly, this a new use of the phrase "innocent bystander" - I had no idea that it could also be used to mean "victim of sexual assault by a hideous sack of shit".

It's so nice of you to defend these guys; I'm certain they'll pay you back by irreparably damaging your country/telling you you're too ugly to rape. They're givers like that.

@11, I think it's an important stage in our intellectual maturity when we come to realize that massively evil acts need not be motivated by evil intent or performed by evil men, but may equally be the result of ignorance, uncaring, or simply having dramatically wrong assumptions.

Of course that also tends to make you completely paralysed in your decision-making (in case you don't know what you're doing), and that's when the George W. Bushes and Tyler Maxes of the world charge in ahead of you while you're pontificating and run that country or fuck that girl.
15
12: It's really not good enough to have "most" of your sexual encounters be consensual, dude.

0 is a pretty reasonable goal in the category of "number of rapes and near-rapes."

I mean, I know it's tucker max, but you can set your bars a little higher than that, can't you?

Dear Female Humans of Earth:

Most of us are nothing like George W. Bush or Tucker Max. Please keep this in mind as we attempt to gain access to your genitals.
17
As Stephen Colbert said so eloquently, "Bush is a man of conviction. What he knows to be true on Monday, he knows is true on Wednesday, regardless of what happens on Tuesday."

It's easy to mock G.W. Bush but let's not forget he didn't elect himself. Over 50 million of our friends, family, and neighbors voted for that walking, talking stool sample. Every time you think of any of the myriad atrocities that scumbag committed just take a look out your window and realize that a shit load of folks pulled the lever, enthusiastically. As for me, the biggest "decision point" of the last decade was why Ralph Nader thought it would be a good idea to fuck over the planet. Just sayin'. No fate is awful enough for that douchebag.

Please wait...
