Rebecca Solnit Explains Things to You

Covering her ears because of you, men.

I think that the reason men are so adamantly against the use of this word is not because it's counter productive. It is because men have suddenly realized that women must put every man in the category of potential abuser. They did not know this but deep down understand why. Since the more enlightened cannot push back on this without looking like jerks, they use 'mansplaining' as a surrogate.

@1: "Sometimes identifying a phenomenon brings it right out."

...As if women aren't perpetually explaining things to men...like how men explain things to women. Femsplaining.

Thanks for the femsplanation Rebecca. It all makes sense in my silly little head now.

hey, you asked me a question. did you not want an answer?

I named this phenomena Male Answer Syndrome, or MAS, back in the Grunge Era. Men are compelled to make sense out of chaos, particularly when trying to answer a question a woman asked. Even if you don't know, you have to come up with a plausible explanation, or The Woman Might Be Disappointed In You. Yes, it goes back to Mommy.

I've also coined Female Tag Inversion, or FTI, for the phenomena of clothing tags sticking up out of their tops.

Feel free to use either.

I’m currently working on my own essay:

"Women Tell Me How They Feel And Ask Me How I Feel"

It should be out in July.

I'm just going to leave this here.

#5 - We've also been using "Male Answer Syndrome" for awhile, but I also like "Manswers."
