"As a woman" is very ambiguous as it is unclear whether it is in reference to the author's personal experience or a hypothetical empathy with the boss. I'm not sold that its presence as a rhetorical strategy is any good indication of the author's gender. That said, it's called I, Anonymous for a reason.

Boss sounds like a nightmare. In general I've always found it easier to work for female bosses (but most women I know hate working for female bosses). They usually don't resort to the dick power moves men often do. But when they are bad, they are the worst. This boss sounds like the typical mom who has lost all control of and lost the respect of her kids. The kind who don't know what they are doing, don't know how to do anyone else's jobs, but thinks dads/male bosses always get results because kids/people are afraid of them, so that's what she'll do. Except good dads/bosses don't pulls that shit and the ones that do are hated. So the harpy harps and bullies ineffectively, and then she complains that it's so unfair everyone hates her, but a man would have been respected for doing the same thing (no, he wouldn't).

The language can be deemed "misogynistic" because words that are specifically designed to be used against women are a result of our androcentric society. And there are way more negative words for women than there are men.

But basically: anon's co-worker/boss is shitty and annoying, anon hates her and so she pulled out the big gun "woman-hating" descriptors. I think Anon needs to take said person aside and talk about her "management style." There are tasteful and effective ways to do this!

Every obsessive, demanding, control-freak micromanaging boss I've ever had has been a woman. And fat black women are the worst! Give one the slightest bit of authority and they lord it over you like a slavemaster. "Yamo git'chu all back!" And she does it with impunity, because she knows that whatever she does she's untouchable. The company is too fearful of a lawsuit and negative publicity. That and her kind have made it to the upper levels of management to create an unassailable power block that's free to run the organization into the ground while promoting high turnover levels.

We all should care about being sensitive to others. Not phony PC-line toeing, but earnestly wanting to not perpetuate stereotypes and prejudice. English has many words; nothing forcing you to use the small subset of those which perpetuate hate.

Pointing out prejudice is "PC bullshit" until you're affected by it. Prejudice comes in many forms, in some cases it can be overt and in others it is more implied. The post is subtly misogynistic; the poster picks on her boss as much for being a *woman* in charge as she does for being (perceivedly) incompetent. Compare other I Anon posts about bosses or coworkers and I think you'll see the difference.

Also, you can respect or admire a person for part of their work or beliefs and not others. Just because a person did something great does not excuse their other failings. And it's true a person's failings do not negate their positive aspects and contributions, but I would say rather than people being too quick to throw people out for a "minor" flaw, it is more often the case that we ignore any flaws they have/had if we like them.

I guess I don't follow your basic assumption human=unworthy of derision. Every one has flaws, and they are all worthy of derision. This author made the mistake of laying her hand on the table -- and as is to be expected, as should happen, people jumped on her for being misogynistic. Without derision and self-examination, how can you expect to become a better person?

I liked 39s comment as it was really just another IA rant, really. I imagine he works for the city, state, or some government job where hacks are tolerated and put up with disregarding their ineptitude.

I remember a visit to a DMV office in Los Angeles and it took forever- I remember seething at the group of black workers standing around talking and laughing while the lines were a mile long. Being a fellow minority, I was embarrassed and annoyed at them for being so casual and uncaring about the multitudes waiting. If I was the boss, I'd have fired them.
