Your Voice Makes Me a Misogynist

Little angelfuck
It's a shame that luck is the only thing
Did you like the fun?
Did you like the times that I promised you?

Open wounds on your brow
Little angel in red
She isn't lovin you anymore

Little angelfuck
I've see you going down on a fireplug
Little angelfuck

Size for everyone

Let those bastards believe
Dry your eyes and we'll leave
She isn't lovin you anymore

Pretty sure your misogyny makes you a misogynist. Sorry your boss doesn't have the larynx length required to generate the frequency of sound waves you find most reasonable and authoritative.
3
minorly annoying qualities (high-pitched voice) are SO much more annoying when the person has some genuinely crappy qualities (stupidity, self-righteousness, whatever) that we get stuck having to deal with. we can all relate to that, i think.
4
What #2 said. If you think one woman represents all women, you've got issues with women, and your vocabulary reflects that. Go work for a man and continue to be pathetically myopic.
5
Hating one person does not equate misogyny. Saying so might does indicate an overly-dramatic personality, however.
7
Geez, is this from a Stranger staffer?
8
Anon is just upset because said woman did all of her COCAINE. Withdrawals are the real bitch. ;)
9
Yeah, I'm sorry..... Your misogyny makes you a misogynist.

How about you get back to work and quit getting your boss mad because of your laziness?
10
Does the OP write the headline, or does The Stranger? 'Cause misogyny is only mentioned in the headline. "Pardon My Ass Burgers" had me wondering about that, too.
11
If "Anon" is a woman, can she technically even BE a misogynist? I thought you had to be a man to be one of those.
12
@5: using gendered insults to complain about typical boss traits that are clearly not gendered (being overbearing and clueless about how to manage people is not a lady-boss exclusive suite of traits) and seeing all her failings through the lens of 'omg this bitch is trying to tell me what to do...I know she's my boss but this cunt clearly doesn't know her place and needs to be seen and not heard so my manly awesomeness won't be impeded' IS DEFINITELY MISOGYNISTIC. This woman is the placeholder for all wimenz, in the sad little mind of the OP.
13
@12 -- I Anon is female. She says so. 2nd sentence.
14
I think Cienna and Kelly O need to hug it out ooorrrr... slug it out. ding ding.
15
I'm with @2 & @4,
16
This sounds like The Battle of the Passive-Aggressive.
17
@2 ANON IS NOT A MAN! She says so right away, "as a woman".
So chill the fuck out you PMSing little bitch! (NOW THAT'S MISOGYNY!)
18
Yes, women can also be misogynistic. They hate other women, at the very least.
19
So if I say my boss is a dick does that make me a misandrist?
20
Good lord, people. No one who writes an article in a newspaper (journalist or otherwise) writes the headline. The editor does. Get over the headline and talk about something else, please.
21
@jnics -- here here
22
What is this, your fucking hobby? Just get your goddamned copy in.
23
@19: Actually, that would be misanthrope.
And no, if your boss is a dick, you're just being honest.
24
"As a woman" is very ambiguous as it is unclear whether it is in reference to the author's personal experience or a hypothetical empathy with the boss. I'm not sold that its presence as a rhetorical strategy is any good indication of the author's gender. That said, it's called I, Anonymous for a reason.
25
@23 - Misanthropy is the hatred of people in general, misandry is the hatred of those of male gender. Not to split hairs, I just don't see why it's so awful to call someone a cunt when it isn't so awful to call someone a dick. Honesty is honesty, and anon's boss certainly sounds like the label is appropriate.
26
@13: women can still be misogynists. In fact, in my experience, they can be some of the worst sexists and misogynists.
28
wow, crazy-awesome illustration.
29
@25: It sounds like we basically agree that anon's boss is a dick.
Misandry isn't listed anywhere in my dictionary (it's an old edition), but that still sounds like a term for hating men. But you're right--my bust--misanthrope DOES mean "one who hates mankind".
Not to split hairs back, but you can still be honest about hating men, although I'm not saying that you are.
30
Boss sounds like a nightmare. In general I've always found it easier to work for female bosses (but most women I know hate working for female bosses). They usually don't resort to the dick power moves men often do. But when they are bad, they are the worst. This boss sounds like the typical mom who has lost all control of and lost the respect of her kids. The kind who don't know what they are doing, don't know how to do anyone else's jobs, but thinks dads/male bosses always get results because kids/people are afraid of them, so that's what she'll do. Except good dads/bosses don't pulls that shit and the ones that do are hated. So the harpy harps and bullies ineffectively, and then she complains that it's so unfair everyone hates her, but a man would have been respected for doing the same thing (no, he wouldn't).
31
Sure, women can be misogynistic just like men can. But hating just one woman because she's a total bitch does not make you a misogynist. The language can be deemed "misogynistic" because words that are specifically designed to be used against women are a result of our androcentric society. And there are way more negative words for women than there are men.

But basically: anon's co-worker/boss is shitty and annoying, anon hates her and so she pulled out the big gun "woman-hating" descriptors. I think Anon needs to take said person aside and talk about her "management style." There are tasteful and effective ways to do this!
32
@30 & @31: Right on!!
33
@6: What's your gripe about Nicole Brodeur?
34
Is this the Stranger staff? LOL.
35
@26 -- Yes, of course we can. But I was addressing my comment to #12, who clearly assumed IA was male. Reference the "manly awesomeness" line, 2ns-to-last sentence.
36
Aack - gotta learn to proofread! *2nd-to last sentence*!
37
How do we know that the boss is not actually one of these bird people that keep popping up in ever growing numbers? The screeching, the frenetic behavior, the social anxiety, the illustration, it's all there. Don't be too sure of yourselves, folks.
38
So...if the boss were a man with a low-pitched voice then it would be okay for him to yell at you? Logic fail!
39
Every obsessive, demanding, control-freak micromanaging boss I've ever had has been a woman. And fat black women are the worst! Give one the slightest bit of authority and they lord it over you like a slavemaster. "Yamo git'chu all back!" And she does it with impunity, because she knows that whatever she does she's untouchable. The company is too fearful of a lawsuit and negative publicity. That and her kind have made it to the upper levels of management to create an unassailable power block that's free to run the organization into the ground while promoting high turnover levels.

And the more demanding and abusive they are, the more insecure and downright incompetent they are. Bitch, just back the fuck up. You couldn't pour piss out of a boot you're so stupid. You're hated equally by the men and women that work for you.

Misogynistic? Make just ONE complaint, JUST ONE suggestion to her privately, and you're fired.

So that makes me a racist as well as a misogynist, I guess. But you know what? I don't give a fuck. Call me that all day. I have NO more sympathy for whatever past injustices got you this cushy affirmative-action job where nothing is expected of you. We all hate your guts.
40
The Bad Seed: I hate your guts.

You know, just that I can't stand racist misogynists.
41
You uber-PC Seattle-ites always crack me up. So glad I moved to L.A. 12 years ago. Sure, it's a shithole down here, but, at least folks here are able to have an open and honest discussion about the issues of the day (the benefits of a truly culturally-diverse population) without wasting so much time worrying about hurting anyone's feelings. That shit is SO divertive and phony. Regardless of Anonymous' gender (yes, I realise it's clearly stated), exactly how is it a misogynist rant? What's wrong with a little raw and un-cut honesty? All you among the PC Police know damn well you wouldn't be referring to Anonymous as misandrous if her bitchy boss was a man. Just because someone has a problem with A SPECIFIC PERSON doesn't necessarily mean they have a probelm with that specific person's entire group/race/gender, etc.

OK. Now you can start-in with all the anti-Los Angeles comments, completely ignoring everything else I said.
42
@41: Actually, I pretty much agree with what you said.
Worrying about being PC really sucks. So I basically say what I think.
Not everyone is going to agree with me; the world is too diverse.
I'm fine with that.
43

44
Sorry about the double post! Sigh.
45
The City of Angels! Once scored some awesome coke in LA. Coke so awesome that my tongue got a sustained erection for well over a few hours. My ex gf was fired up. Malt liquor tastes like bad ass. Oh, high pitched whining sucks sweaty nuts. She just needs to get off. Poor little whining repressed hottie. Send her my way.
46
Who cares this much about identity? Isn't it more important what you do rather than who you are? A misogynist is not an individual without value; it's not like we have to be the gleaming example of cosmopolitan perfection merely to qualify as being human and unworthy of derision.

Louis Ferdinand Destouches was a French fascist, and likely also an anti-Semite; this does not mean that I dislike "Mort à Crédit"--far from it, in fact.

I sense this fascination is a major pitfall for progressives. They all spend so much time blathering about inconsequential politically-correct bullshit; as such, no-takes them seriously or can be bothered to keep listening to their inane drivel. The world could burn down while progressives argue identity.
47
@46: Did you not read my post @42 & @43?
48
#46, What the fuck is your point? This isn't literature, it's a freaking sexist rant in a weekly. Take it down a notch.
49
Well, Anon, I don't know what your bosses voice sounds like, but yours sounds like jealousy. You sound like you can't stand another woman got ahead of you and you have to take her orders.
50
@40: Like I said, I don't give a fuck. Shut the fuck up.
51
@41, LA sucks, shut up.
52
@46 is pretty much exactly right.
53
Using gendered negative traits to denigrate someone who is so immensely frustrating and toxic is perhaps insensitive but I think forgivable. Sometimes in the extremity of pique we reach for whatever we can think of to hurl at the object of our ire, even if it winds up being terms we might ordinarily leave on the shelf.

Cool it, Anon. I know this woman is awful and it is tempting to insult her in every way possible but you should lay off on the anti-woman terminology. It only confuses your case.
54
@52: ...about what?
55
Does hating Congress make me a miscongrist?
56
Auntie grizeldas comments get me hard
57
@56: And your point is...?

Oh---that's it. You HAVE no point.
58
@46 my assumption is, if you were a minority, you would give a damn about "PC bullshit".

We all should care about being sensitive to others. Not phony PC-line toeing, but earnestly wanting to not perpetuate stereotypes and prejudice. English has many words; nothing forcing you to use the small subset of those which perpetuate hate.

Pointing out prejudice is "PC bullshit" until you're affected by it. Prejudice comes in many forms, in some cases it can be overt and in others it is more implied. The post is subtly misogynistic; the poster picks on her boss as much for being a *woman* in charge as she does for being (perceivedly) incompetent. Compare other I Anon posts about bosses or coworkers and I think you'll see the difference.
59
Also, you can respect or admire a person for part of their work or beliefs and not others. Just because a person did something great does not excuse their other failings. And it's true a person's failings do not negate their positive aspects and contributions, but I would say rather than people being too quick to throw people out for a "minor" flaw, it is more often the case that we ignore any flaws they have/had if we like them.

"it's not like we have to be the gleaming example of cosmopolitan perfection merely to qualify as being human and unworthy of derision."

I guess I don't follow your basic assumption human=unworthy of derision. Every one has flaws, and they are all worthy of derision. This author made the mistake of laying her hand on the table -- and as is to be expected, as should happen, people jumped on her for being misogynistic. Without derision and self-examination, how can you expect to become a better person?
60
I liked 39s comment as it was really just another IA rant, really. I imagine he works for the city, state, or some government job where hacks are tolerated and put up with disregarding their ineptitude.

I remember a visit to a DMV office in Los Angeles and it took forever- I remember seething at the group of black workers standing around talking and laughing while the lines were a mile long. Being a fellow minority, I was embarrassed and annoyed at them for being so casual and uncaring about the multitudes waiting. If I was the boss, I'd have fired them.
61
I can't stand one of my managers. He's a micromanaging, controlling, petulant asshole. But that doesn't make me a misandrist - I don't hate all men, I just hate him.
62
A misogynist is a person who hates people who use too much toilet paper.
63
@62: ...because you use your hands?
64
@60: You nailed it. The Federal and state governments are chock full of these types. Not that I'm knocking all women supervisors, black or white, but the ones I'm talking about can get away with incompetence, erratic behavior, bullying, and micromanagement with impunity because its impossible to get fired. White males will be labeled as "having problems working with women". Women working for them will see their lives made miserable by these bosses. It's the most seething, man-hating politically correct working environment you'll ever experience outside of academia.
65
"So shut the fuck up, woman."

Eesh. I can loathe specific people without using them as an excuse to hate any wider group. Men, women, straights, gays, anyone of a minority status. Yeah, they really forced you to be this nasty.
66
Nasty can be funny
67
nasty can be funny
68
@66: Right, right. I dig that but context is everything. What's a zing on someone you like/hate can easily become a sign that someone is not well off in the head and possibly a hateful fucker.
69
@26: "women can still be misogynists. In fact, in my experience, they can be some of the worst sexists and misogynists."

Oh god, if you ever hear "i'm not like other girls tee-hee!" or "god, I hate all other women, I'm different..." especially if you see her with a manharem, fucking run. Run no matter whether you're gay, straight, man, woman, genderqueer, run the fuck away.
