Why do people blog as if The Seattle Times endorsements matter? They ceased to be relevant when the Times endorsed George W. Bush for President. The Blethens automatically choose the candidate believed to be least favorably disposed to organized labor, and wonder why, in a recession, people aren't voting the way people with $98,000 cars vote.
It can't be easy for Ms. Balter and other non-Blethen people assigned to the Times' anonymous editorial team to endure association with the Blethens' conservative picks, suspecting that the print copies of the endorsements are lining the litter boxes of pets belonging to the high-information voters.
What is often missed is just how quickly the Times adopts new politicos and actively entrenches them. You may have wondered how once bright eyed candidates become entrenched incumbents. It does not just "happen", it is done to them or for them, depending on their predisposition.
The process is slow, delayed, and obvious, just like the Seattle Times.
Spot on with the homoxual overlords mandating exposed flesh, sir. My understanding is that they have already seized Levi Johnston--a good Republican man full of promise and American spirit-- and have secreted him away to a ghey stronghold in an attempt to convert him to a life of harlotry and sin.
Aaaaahaaaaahaaaaa.... Take no prisoners, Mr. Steen. Wonderful essay. The ghost of silliness-loathing Graham Chapman lurks within you. Let him out more often.
One should not read E.Birch Steen (one of two must read authors) on the bus. It is totally embarassing to laugh so hard that tears run down one's face. What a great essay. Thank you for sacrificing yourself to eat out with Blethen.

and remember to be decent to everyone all of the time.
Not that I'm one to talk about my own personal appearance, myself.
