When my friend's son turned 13, she began reading specifically chosen and kept Savage Love columns in the bathroom her son used. Never too shady, often concerning mid-teen advice, opened to the right page but "shoved" in the corner.
Nothing like "natural discovery" of detailed information and advice to help a teen take said advice to heart without the awkwardness.
(and this was in addition to a few Q&A sessions more direct on the subject)
