It is so sad that the Imps of Hollywood so fucked up the League of Extraordinary gentlemen that we'll never get to see Winona reprise as Mina Murray and deliver the immortal line: "It's not quite the two discreet puncture marks of legend." It'd have even been worth enduring seeing her deliver it to old fat naked Sean Connery. In bed.
My wife and I were the only people who laughed out loud in a packed theater at the line spoken by Keanu, "Gentlemen, must we desecrate poor Lucy's grave?"
High camp, indeed, and Eiko Ishioka's costumes always set my heart aflutter. The real reason I will always, *always* adore this movie in my heart of hearts is that it came out on my 14th birthday and I saw it with about 20 friends. It was a magical evening of pubescent nonsense in a suburban movie theater. Ah, youth. Oh! And the next night I went to my first hardcore show. Best birthday ever.
Tom Waits was pretty good as Renfield.
Apparently, only the guys didn't find Oldham's Drac sexy.
