Northwest-born, Paris-based artist Oscar Tuazon makes sculptures out of things you'd find on a construction site—steel beams, two-by-fours, window frames—but they are not buildings, and they are not functional spaces in any traditional sense. They are sort of like architectural versions of Duchamp's nonsensical but totally sensical Bicycle Wheel sculpture of a bicycle wheel screwed to the top of a stool. The New Foundation Seattle and the University of Washington invite him to discuss his work, which was in the Whitney Biennial last year, as part of the Critical Issues in Contemporary Art series.
