Lightning Strikes—taken from a song title by late German counter-tenor Klaus Nomi—is the first collaboration between 1980s East Village veterans Joey Arias and Kristian Hoffman. Joey Arias is a performance artist, cabaret singer, drag artist, and New York City icon who has been performing world-wide for more than 30 years. Kristian Hoffman, singer, songwriter, producer, and prominent "No Wave" artist wrote "Nomi Song," "Total Eclipse," and "Simple Man" for Nomi. Hoffman has collaborated with Rufus Wainwright, Maria McKee, Lydia Lunch, and El Vez. Arias and Hoffman backed up David Bowie on Saturday Night Live in 1979, and have not shared a stage since their appearances at Club 57, Mud Club, and CBGB in NYC.
