The Life, Times & Comics of Rube Goldberg

Push/Pull (map) Ballard
Sat., April 22, 7-10 p.m. 2017

Rube Goldberg might be most famous for the concept of his eponymous "machine," any absurdly complicated system of interlocking simple machines that accomplish a mundane and generally very easy task, like opening a door. But Goldberg's influence isn't limited to this enduringly silly trope. He was also a comics artist with a 62-year career that spanned Sunday funnies and Pulitzer-prize winning political cartoons. In conjunction with the MoPOP exhibit, learn more about this important American original from Paul C. Tumey, who's done extensive research on Goldberg and his 50,000+ works of comics art.
