I am interested in the free, BeaconBards reading with bar on Beacon Hill tonight at 7pm at Garden House. Cozy venue for an evening with Patricia Smith, Aimee Nezhkumatathil & Martha Collins. Sounds like a happy hour with brains.
@7, yeah, why the hell is that this year?! Gonna be a lot of pissed off publishers returning home with a lot more merch than they'd hoped. Dumpsters near the convention center might be literary treasure troves on Sunday.
Actually, the VIDA event is a ten dollar minimum donation at the door as VIDA is an all volunteer organizations that uses the funds to help support The VIDA Count. I'd advise getting there a bit early as last year's event had a line out the door. During a snow storm.
@5 and @6: It's a good idea to show up to Lick on Saturday @ Chop Suey to find the literary queers in town who like to get down...or at least I'm hoping.
"Sometimes it might feel like the Mardi Gras of literary nerds, which is annoying, but you're less likely to have a jock vomit into your hair than at the actual Mardi Gras."
To James Yamaski, who writes:
"On the upside, almost everyone is there because of a shared love for reading and writing, rather than for love of filthy lucre."
Nice Biblical reference from 1 Timothy 3:3 “not given to filthy lucre” [lucre: modern slang for "money"]

Now, THAT'S writing! So beautiful.

Well played, sir.
More writing like this, please.
