Denzel Washington is an asshole (in one of the best films of the year).

This is good news. After I saw the shot of the jetliner flying upside down I thought it was all over.

After the plane crash it turns into a Hallmark movie on alcoholism.

Washington "deserves" an Oscar for this as much as he did for Training Day. Of course he got that Oscar for the same reason Chuckie calls this "the best film of the year". Not because it's any good.

At one point they show Denzel's ashy chocolate brown ass cheeks sticking out from the back of hospital gown--literally mooning us. And that's all you need to know about this film. Now vote for Obama and shut the hell up.

I thought this movie was a little better than a run-of-the-mill alcoholism movie. I find it strange how the marketing frames it as and action movie but it's really a character study. Some scenes are very well written but the director plays with the audience too much and it becomes predictable.

I was excited to see Flight after reading this review, but the movie did not live up to the hype. Denzel isn't a big enough asshole, I almost fell asleep during the scenes with the addict girl who had no relevance in my opinion, and the divorced relationship with an adolescent son is tired and predictable. What a waste of Don Cheadle too. I felt like a lot more could have been done with this storyline, but he just sort of hid out until the inevitable. For my money, I want more explosive scenes and outrageousness from Denzel- his lifestyle before he got caught was more interesting than the aftermath.

jesus Christ I felt like I got roped into an intervention.

He seemed to consume a different brand of alcohol depending where he was. Kind of the usual hipocrisy with regard to product placement and alcoholism.

Rolling Rock - Cessna airplane fixing beer.
Vodka (or Gin?) - for drunk driving.
Different beer (in cans) - also for drunk driving.
Mini Vodka and OJ - drunk flying.

I started thinking of the SNL cast member who does the Denzel impression after about the 20th time he pushed his cheek out with his tongue while gathering his thoughts.

Training Day or even Ricochet had better Denzel performances while being more interesting movies.

Please wait...
