I adored Visitors, but then I adore the Qaatsi movies and the works of Ron Fricke (Baraka, Samsara). If you have seen any of those movies you owe it yourself to see Visitors at the Cinerama during its run.

Charles, you really are a Renaissance man, by which I mean your philosophical views are centuries old. The more we know about humans, the more like animals they appear to be.

It's obvious that like the Christians, some part of your identity, your self-esteem, rests upon the belief that you are in possession of the Dualist's magic "soul" that sets you apart from and above the material and animal worlds. How predictably human you are.

Check out our encephalization quotient (EQ). We've got like half our brains sitting around to do nothing except ponder the stars. No other animal is like us.

OP:

However, I would say, yes, these are Dark Ages, the High Culture having ended in 1974.

"Like much in this film, Harwin provides no clear ideas but offers suggestions, fragments, hints. " That is no understatement, Charles.
