That mastermind you speak of is Steven Nereo, who now lives on a steep hill in Echo Park, and continues to put out killer music via his label Slabco: http://www.slabco.com/.
The original World Pizza was hugely important to so many folks, myself included. The re-issue is a wonderful addition to our city.
Love WP and have a habbit of picking up a slice or 2 for lunch at least once a week.
The place is only about 6 blocks from SMT and City Hall and makes for a nice walk.
There are family owned businesses and there are family owned businesses that FEEL like family - where people remember names and personal preferences.
I try to get there at least every week or so for a couple of slices. Loved the old one. Love the new one too. Those Chocolate Chip Cookies they make are really good too--among the best in the city. They carry on the tradition of great cookies that Adam started out at the Monkey Tree on Vashon Island.
Land of the Loops is nice, but there's another loop-n-sample-happy Slabco artist that takes the whole pizza -- Sukpatch. Good gawd that stuff is catchy.
The new World Pizza is great. It's not my favorite (I'm more of a super-thin crust man myself) but it's close; I'd call it "best in class" for the style. I hope the ID never loses its international feel, but sometimes pizza is the answer.
vegetarian? lame. I walked in and left when I noticed it was vegetarian exclusively. Then I went to this other asian joint across the street for some hot pot [which was bad hotpot] shoulda tried some lame veg pizza I guess.
does anyone remember that living room installation art that went up in a vacant lot a block away from the old one?
was i the only one that saw that?
entropy exhibit...
Wonderful , wonderful news ! We used to
eat our evening meals there , while working
back shift at the [ then ] US West bill
payment / processing center , down the
street , way back in '95...
what a great article. I'm going to dig out my old World Pizza tshirt and go eat! I knew I'd have a reason to keep it all these years. WP was a special place - at least one of the brothers lived at the Rivoli back then I think, where I worked. And Parris was doing his street art all over. I am thrilled they are back.

Also, props to Alan Sutherland, the beautiful Mr. Land of the Loops.
