Eating on the Waterfront, Because: Why Not?

The Seattle Center Armory may have formerly been the Seattle Center House, but it definitely wasn't née that way. It was built as the Seattle Field Artillery Armory in '39, became the Food Circus for the World's Fair, and was rebranded as the Center House in the '70s. Not sure why they keep renaming the place (do they think it'll make me want to go there more?), but there you go.

Anyway, more on-topic: if I want a waterfront lunch, I'll pass on the $6 beers and $13 po'boys. The sculpture park lawn with a few beers from my fridge and a banh mi from the ID will do me just fine. I spend the rest of the year paying too much to drink indoors because it's too miserable to drink anywhere but indoors. Now that we finally have our summer, I'ma save my money and do my drinking in parks and on porches—not at overpriced restaurants.

I love our waterfront, year round. The touristy sourdough bakery is actually quite good.

It's cute when you guys leave Capitol Hill to 'report'

"waddling" is accurate. if you're a misanthrope, do not go on the waterfront.

@2: I've seen that movie and IT IS AWESOME. Thanks for reminding me of the dangers of wearing headphones!

Question for Kelly O regarding photo "chow-click-1.jpg":

Is the corner of the building not a 90-degree angle? Or did you use a special lens? Either way, awesome photo.

For monster viewing, go to South Lake Union Beach.

Feed them hotdogs from the floating hot dog stand and they'll thank you for it!

Please wait...
