It's out of control and apparently it's nation-wide. This paragraph is from the Eater Denver article on their ampersand craze-
"openings were Olive & Finch, Work & Class, and Guard & Grace. Slated for later this year are Salt & Grinder, Stoic & Genuine, Milk & Honey, and Mercantile Dining & Provisions. And not that long ago, Denver got Colt & Gray, Williams & Graham, and the newest non-ampersand AND eatery, Beast + Bottle."
Mercantile Dining & Provisions might take the all-time award for mashing the highest number of restaurant name trends into one name. I think it would be impossible to top it- but Slog readers should try.
Informative review, and I love the headline. Ampersand Lounge takes the title for ampersand places. At least Seattle has an ampersand sculpture and a Super Bowl title - suck it Denver!
Clearly you haven't tried their otherworldly pea dish and kick-ass Texas toast (and to watch the Chef yank it out of the oven with a geyser of melted butter falling to the floor is something to behold). Their micro brew taps are legit too.
An ampersand isn't always bad: Frederick & Nelson, Wallin & Nordstrom, City Light & Power......it's just when they expect the ampersand to deliver instant old-timeiness that things get balled up.
When I buy this place, I PROMISE the new name will NOT include an ampersand....AND I will do really flavorful, approachable, crave-able food and cocktails...OK? 1st we have to get rid of these wannabes....

Anyhoo...THIS place is not good. No food on the menu is CRAVABLE. NEXT!!
If you're in Ballard, Bastille is easier to get to, and they have an awesome Happy Hour and a better name.
LOL at 15.
