As per @2's suggestion of returning home immediately... LW, I understand not wanting to run away from being abroad because you don't want to leave on a bad note, or have travel forever seem traumatizing and scary. I am also a young woman who can often be found travelling alone. One of my favourite ways to stay long term is to find a workaway host family (workaway.info) and stay with a family and help prune olive trees or milk cows or whatever. It gives me a safe place, families who have always welcomed me into their home and made me feel like I was really part of the family, and a truly different experience from touristing because you're living the local life with a local family. Also, it's super cheap because the agreement is that they feed you and house you in exchange for helping construct the chicken coop or whatever. It's something I've done lots of times and I've always had wonderful families take me in. Whatever you decide I hope that the future is less awful than what has just happened to you. Good luck!

Also, number 9: "Tell your friends you have something you need to share with them. Proceed to walk in and out of a closet until they get the message." reminds me of this great video:

These are great - helpful AND hilarious!
I've always loved how much like a caring uncle Dan is to queer youth. Thank you Dan, for being so supportive and loving.

@2 "joined the eternal choir invisible!" I believe
@4 yes, I definitely look back on my first love fondly, as it was a good first relationship. TRISTE hopefully can find solace in the future that his ex-gf probably thinks of him fondly (as long as he keeps from being a jerk now)
@7 I too remember that feeling of absolute bereavement at the end of my first relationship when I was 19. I, like everyone else, got past it, got into other relationships, loved again, was broken hearted again, and am now in a very loving and stable relationship. I'd say to TRISTE that his feelings right now are totally legitimate. Also, in time, he'll hopefully come to think of his first love fondly while being in a different deeply loving relationship.

I loved that Danish ad and definitely got teary!
I was surprised that there was only one bisexual though. If experience has taught me anything it's that us bi folks are quietly lurking *everywhere*, mostly invisible in straight or gay relationships.

I was very interested in the radio programme mentioned by @20, but the link was cut off. I went and found it. Here it is for anyone else interested:
