@22 have fun with this grade C troll. He used to go by Mister G, and ranted about bikes, 'liberals' and thought the city was going to ban non-native plants. He also thought Romney was going to win and that pot, once legalized would bottom out to a dollar an ounce because it's easy to grow.
Basically, he's a dipshit who basically hurls whatever insult of the week (fuckwit had been it for a bit) and when confronted by people who actually know what they're talking, he'll basically have a tantrum.
Unbrainwashed, your inability to hide the fact that you're Mister G only showcases your lack of creativity or worse intelligence.

Here's the deal with 'malt beverages'. The TTB divides all booze into three catagories. Wine (from fruit), distilled (as the name implies) and malt beverages. Malt beverages are anything made with cereal grains, beer and sake are the main ones.
All beer is classified by the TTB as a malt beverage, however depending on your process of production, you can give it a more specific classification. Using an ale strain with only malt and hops? You can call it an Ale, same goes for a Lager. When you make something that's not within that framework, it gets called a Malt Beverage.
That's on the federal level, some states have their own classification rules. For example in Texas beers over a certain strength must be labeled Ale, other states require Malt Beverage. Larger macro-breweries label their strong lagers with that title to make it easier to pass label approval in various states.
A good example of the oddity of beverage classification is barley wine. It's always barley wine-style ale (or beer), the TTB requires "-style", so consumers don't get confused.
Raindrop, you're thinking Austria. It's called Samiclaus. It's labeled that way by the importer to allow easier access to different states.
You'll see fewer micro-breweries labeling their non-conventional (sometimes traditional Belgian) beers 'malt beverage', this is due to the TTB being overwhelmed by the sheer volume of labels and have loosen the laws.
I hope this clears a few things up.

@27 a lot of tea partiers are the 47 percent you complain about. In all honesty I don't see why you're so hostile to children and the elderly (the vast majority of the 47). We could also add disabled vets, which I suppose you probably hate as well.
The 47 thing is cute, but really misleading and hopefully you're smart enough to do the math.

@9 I like to imagine it's typed one key at a time by candlelight in a monastery.

It makes a lot of sense for the IRS to keep an eye on anti-tax groups. They seem the most likely to justify cheating on a system they don't believe is legitimate.

@62 what argument do you want me to address?
You posited that a weight based limit would be easy to employ because people simply need to go to the vet, I countered that a lot of people can't afford to go to a vet. We both agree that in an ideal world people who can't take care of something shouldn't. However, in my experience it's unrealistic to expect people without resources to participate in a process that requires resources.
I hope that clears things up.

@61 tighter regulation would be a good first step. However I think you'd need to address the cost for all that. Otherwise there'll be a huge black market for them. Which there already is, most of these dog attacks come from unregistered dogs.

@46. There's a section on Craigslist for Pets. I'm pretty sure it's not for soliciting 2nd base action.
@51 I agree with you that people who don't have the means to care for a dog shouldn't have one. However, I'm also realistic that oddly enough people do things they shouldn't.
@53 that's great you live in Baltimore. It's a very interesting city with a long history, however I only know you in the vacuum of Slog and here you are an elitist. Pretty much every comment is smug as shit.
@rob! You're cool. Just wanted to let you know that site isn't very good. I do think there is a problem with mistreated dogs, but it's cultural and banning on type of ban isn't feasible nor would the problem go away without systemic changes in our attitudes towards dogs.
May 10 CbytheSea commented on Such Nice Dogs.
@35 you haven't really spent time with poor people, have you? The vast majority can't afford to take their dogs to the vet, don't register their dogs and buy them off Craigslist.
Unless you want to create a universal healthcare for dogs, a lot of poor people will avoid vets. They're quite expensive and poor people lack money. Hence they don't go to vets. So now, you'd have to police poor neighborhoods again.
Nature is still part of dogs, every breed of dog is only about 150 years old at most, perhaps 20 generations. There's tremendous variance. There's tiny goldens, big chihuahuas and blind sight hounds. Every puppy is a lottery ticket. If you really think domesticated animals are that predictable, I'd highly recommend doing some more research.
I may lack imagination but you need to do some homework

@31 oddly enough, I replied anyhow.
