$700k to $800k isn't "a buck", Cienna. That's put my kids through Harvard money - I'd rip the wall off my building, too.

@2 - go back to watching Fox news. Yawn.

The sequester is gonna happen, so here's my question - why do you think Obama is stumping for it and issuing such dire warnings? If the strategy is to make sure the GOP owns the sequester and pays for it in the next election . . . that sounds a little bit like the GOP trying to screw the ecomomy for the past two years and hang it on Obama's neck. Seems kind of risky if it's not the catastrophe he's making it out to be.

@3 EXACTLY. Yesterday Walmart put out an earnings report; their spokesmant basically said no one is spending any money, and how could that be? Well, maybe it's because you don't pay people worth a damn, Walmart, and you've depressed wages across the spectrum . . . and that's exactly what would happen if libraries were shuttered. The customer base for books would dwindle. Dreary is a dipshit, Paul's right.

We have to start doing better by these guys - at UPS you're vested after 5 years and eligible for a small pension, but in the military it's 20 or nothing. They guy could flesh out his twenty with reserve time, but there's every chance he'd be called up at some point. As far as healthcare . . . move to IL and enroll in vetscare.

But the truth is the guy's got almost no skills that translate to civilian jobs. After 10 years in they ought to get partial pensions. If you can have something to show for slinging boxes, you ought to have something to show for being a SEAL.

I suggest y'all look eastward to Chicago before you sign any contracts. We've got a hundred year lease on parking meters we can't get out of (yay highest parking rates in the USA), and tolls on the Skyway are $4 and set to rise - not that the money's going to go to Chicago. Hint: the lawyers writing these contracts are not very interested in the civic good, nor are the businesses who are offering you a shitty deal because you're cash starved. It's the equivalent of a fucking payday loan. You'll be very sorry once you start down this road - us, we're looking to sell Midway airport. That should shore up our budget for another couple of months. Then, we'll just whore out Aldermen.

I didn't watch the clip; who cares? But look at the scroll at the bottom: "Democrats blast Paul Ryan for wanting to end Medicare & privatize Soc. Sec." That's the most honest reporting Fox has done in years, right there.

@3 - yeah, that pesky New York Times on the internet. Always pedaling those unsubstantiated rumors.

The Ricketts family is trying to get the City of Chicago to pony up taxpayer money to help renovate Wrigley Field. Because fiscal conservativism. Assholes.

Copyright should expire after 50 years after creation or death, whichever happens later. Period.

We'd all be a lot richer for it.

I can tell you one gay uncle who'll never set foot in Toys R Us again if they cave.

@13: I'm not surprised at that at all - people who think in binary make for great libertarians.
