commented on I Am Happy It's Going to Be Hillary and Not Bernie Going Against Trump in the General Election
Difficult though it is to believe, lots of Americans have not yet begun to engage with this presidential election. They are the people who will be on the news in October, being interviewed as "undecided." They (apparently) don't care much about politics, they (evidently) don't have strong opinions about abortion, healthcare, marriage equality, the social safety net, etc., and they sure as shit don't understand the distinction between "social democrat" and "commie." Unfortunately, they are the vast numbers of people who turn out for the general but not the primary (or the midterms). They are the deciders, god help us all.

They did this a few years ago here in Philly. It's sad to not see the old gals anymore, but it was also sad to see their small outdoor space and hideous indoor space. At least one of the Philadelphia elephants went to that fantastic sanctuary in Tennessee.

commented on You'd Think Mitt Romney Would Learn Not to Talk About the Olympics
Wait, even though Romney said it and even though I don't necessarily agree with his underlying reasons ... I do think that cities/countries spend too much creating Olympic venues. Not just in money, or money that could have been used for other things, but in environmental damage as well. And in homes bulldozed to make way for fancy stadiums that will be underused for decades to come. Etc. So yeah, I agree with Mittens that Olympic spending should be toned way down.

At least they don't make the athletes look like they're representing the country of Polo, unlike the outfits from the London Olympics. Just one totally tasteful 6" high brand mention this time.
Anyway, aren't we all boycotting this hoopla?
