SL Letter of the Day: Sex and the Single Trans Man.
Two weeks isn't "right-away-ish"?? Two weeks is a "big emotional investment"? I feel for LW and didn't think his disclosure time showed poor judgment. It didn't work out, as (sorry for it to be true) many disclosures might go this way for him. So, curious: if not Day One and not Day 14, what is the magic number?

I always thought that mutual masturbation was two (or more) people using their hands on themselves AND each other to get off. Right? No?
As for the woman with the "depressed" husband - I can see why he won't get treatment. His illness apparently gives him license to blow up at his wife while not tolerating an ounce of her righteous anger. DTMFA

I'm a Supporter of Physician-Assisted Suicide....
A complex and compelling issue. I’m all for a well-considered choice to end one’s own life. Howevs: The safeguard issue raised by 10&14 is important. I don’t think a single doctor should ever be able to make the decision that euthanasia is warranted in any situation. In most (all?) states, you can’t get psychiatrically hospitalized without two docs signing off on your papers. Death should be at least that well considered. As for the heartless 12&26: A lot of people who suffer from major depression go through periods in which they seriously don’t want to be alive. I don’t agree that we should just let them die, because I have seen some of them get through the darkness and go on to live really rich, fulfilling lives with people around them who would have been devastated by their absence.

True, Micht, that it would be hard to differentiate "plan to harm" from "unacted upon urge," but if there is no identified potential victim (like in caller one's boyfriend's case), there is nothing one can report. In fact, a therapist could be in danger of losing a license over breach of confidentiality for disclosing the client's THOUGHTS (as opposed to actions).

I'm surprised by how wrong the guest got US mandatory reporting laws. I am a psychologist and am required to report past or ongoing abuse of a child (or the elderly etc) or if my client identifies a particular person or persons s/he plans to harm. I am not obligated to report a person having impure thoughts about someone else. I think a major disservice was done to the "gold star pedophiles" out there who now believe that they cannot admit in treatment that they have unacted-upon pedophilic urges.
