Being overweight is not synonymous with "not taking care of yourself." One of my closest friends is a rather large woman and eats more healthily than most people I know. There are other problems in her body preventing her from being thin. In contrast, a very skinny friend readily and frequently admits that she eats like crap and has a number of health issues. And yet if you saw them next to each other you'd assume the thinner of the two was the healthiest.

I am sick and tired of size being used as an indicator of health. Assumptions get us nowhere here.

Finally, this seems like a good time for one of my favorite quotes from the movie Kinsey. "I always thought ugly was an ugly word."

Can I just listen to Macklemore's Same Love instead? Will that counteract this crap?

@45 - "You feel bad...badly is an adverb. So to say you feel badly is to say that the mechanism which allows you to feel is broken." - Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Nothing personal because I think you make an interesting point - I just like any excuse to quote that movie :)

I almost didn't read past the first paragraph because the writing was so bad. Then I couldn't get through it at all - did she get writing advice from that 50 Shades chick??

My girlfriend is trans. She rarely uses public restrooms precisely because of this type of phobia. It's stupid. This is not a slippery slope. This is not an excuse for men to dress as women just to assault women in bathrooms.

I don't see two sides to this at all. I see a need for people - all humans - to be able pee in peace. My girlfriend is not out to hurt anyone. Nor are the many trans people I know or am acquainted with. For that matter, neither are the butch lesbians I've known who have also been looked at strangely in women's bathrooms - should they be forced to use the men's room too?

I skimmed the comments but didn't see this addressed. Early on, someone said that topping should be all about what the top wants and the only way they could see doing it "wrong" would be to continually check in on the bottom.

I will admit that there is a point where someone can check in too much, but generally, I like someone who checks in. Also, both parties should be enjoying the activities - that's why there's negotiation beforehand. If Hello Kitty is a hard limit for the other person, don't go there.

But when you're just starting - especially when you're just starting - I see nothing wrong with making sure the other person is enjoying what you're doing to them.

I'm really struck by the idea that *he's* afraid that *she* will break down when they have to work together.

I just don't see her as that heartbroken here. He's the one who sounds distraught and whiny. I'd be more afraid that he won't be able to handle seeing her.

I love Jon Stewart so hard.
