commented on Savage Love Letter of the Day: The New Girl
Her hands fell away from my face, she told me to open my eyes... there it was, the new me! As a true, sensual, sexual woman. How could a full time fitness instructor and part time little league baseball coach perform those described duties in a dress? My confusion was understandably rampant but I had to see if the spell would fail... she allowed me to stay in this temporary likeness for just a bit longer... who am I kidding, 4 hours! (...)
commented on John Kerry Addresses the French People
@accents: French has a lot of similar sounding words/conjugations and an "American" accent tends to flatten out the sentences and can make it really hard to understand. Some voice training can make a huge difference but it's a use it or lose it fast problem. I have heard "endearing" before but I always thought it was kind of condescending... lol. In any case, I highly praise Mr. Kerry's efforts to perform a speech in a native tongue.

commented on Gas Is Cheap Again Because Saudi Arabia Is Trying to Hurt Iran?
Reduced economies abroad have decreased demand and increased supply.
Some such as Russia, are in a panic and trying to produce and sell as much as they can, increasing supply.
Drill baby drill and frack baby frack at home has increased supply.
A trend towards buying and driving fewer gas guzzlers at home has led to a small increase in supply.
Big supply now = lower prices. When trends such as those above are reversed, the supply will drop and gas will be expensive again.
A conservative motorcycle riding buddy was trying to convince me that fuel prices were not supply/demand a few weeks ago. His mental gymnastics not only made my head hurt but also had not basis in fact, (his impression that high taxes are part to blame for high prices- not realizing that total taxes federal/state/local per gallon run around 50 cents).
