It's True, Seattle Cabs Suck.
I used cabs a lot for my dad in a wheelchair. Those drivers were very pleasant and patient (and we tipped them well). Car sharing is not going to replace the cabs that can accommodate a wheelchair in the back of their van.
My biggest complaint is that the dispatchers require an address, and will not take a street corner or business name.

The Saturday Morning News.
if you read the ST article, it says he gave the money directly back to the customer as soon as he found it. And the customer tried to give him a reward and he refused it.

Poll Results Show Washingtonians Are Split on Proposed Coal Terminals.
I was phoned by the Elway pollers on this issue, and told them I was strongly against the coal trains for a number of reasons (local environmental issues, global environmental impact, etc.).
They asked specifically about the impact of "job creation" and the wording seemed pretty clearly intended to push people to make that the key factor in deciding. They didn't ask about the environmental impact in the same detail.

Rapid Ride Is Not Bus Rapid Transit.
@16 the 194 was the express bus to the airport. the 174 was the local.
194 was really quick (when not rush hour), but the last bus from seatac was 9pm, so after that it was a cab, or 1+ hour on the 174.
light rail is slower than the 194 during off peak (35 + longer walk v. 25min), but as fast or faster during during morning and evening rush hours.

Obama Officially Sworn In.
@2 no. Roberts flubbed the oath the first time. And then Obama hesitated about whether to say the actual words or just repeat what Roberts said.
It was obvious to anyone watching who knew the actual oath that Roberts screwed up. You should have heard us yelling at the TV when it happened.
