commented on The Morning News: Police Shoot Pit Bull, Tyrone Beason on Seattle's Fading Black Community
Converning the current black diaspora from the CD. My question is this: has the black population of Seattle grown or shrank over the previous decades? Now I know that increased property taxes and rents are the primary driver of black flight, but is it also possible that now that restrictive racial covenents are a thing of the past, blacks can live anywhere they want? Families are selling homes and moving to south king county, but are new families moving to Wallingford, Fremont, etc.? So the population in CD shrinks but grows in other neighborhoods? The conventional wisdom on this subject seems a little overly simplified, IMHO.

commented on It's Official: You'll Vote this August on Doubling the Housing Levy
I voted for Move Seattle, and the dedicated bike lanes in SE Seattle (that would help me and my children not get crushed by a truck) magically disappeared once it passed. A serious bait in switch, so I'm gonna go ahead and voted no for this new levy ( the first time I have ever voted no for a Seattle levy BTW).

commented on Why Did the City Kill Its Own Plan to Build Life-Saving Bike Lanes in Downtown and South Seattle?
What a constructive conversation. Great job sloggers.
I am a dedicated family biker who routinely hauls two kids around the city. I voted for move seattle with the hope that we will eventually see some bike infrastructure in the neighborhood. Not asking for a lot, but it would be nice to have a safer, dedicated route to downtown. This bait and switch (along with 30 years for a graham street light rail station) makes me very hesitant to vote for any other of out current mayors pet projects.
