Guys, you can read Rob every week right here:

Being a semi-ironic, sarcastic, click-baiting dick is practically The Stranger's most consistent characteristic. The other, although this is debatable, is that the paper is written by and for stoned 20-somethings who just don't give a shit about what's been run in the paper since you were their age.

Brezsny is great. Maybe he no longer fits due to inch-based real estate, or maybe his rate went up, or, you know, maybe the collective heads at the paper just decided they're not into him/it anymore. I bet the Weekly would LOVE to have him.

@84 you made a wee typo there.

When you are purple, and you are surrounded by purpleness, you don't know you're purple.

White privilege is hard to spot in Seattle, but that's because the system caters to whites - well-intentioned, liberal/progressive whites who don't live the nightmare of being black in America in 2015.

This protest was effective, because here we are talking about it, 116 comments later. It was rude and clumsy, yes, but after you finish criticizing their methods, or questioning whether they were affiliated with the most legit chapter of BLM, try to imagine what it is like to live in a country, and a city, that systematically marginalizes you and your culture. It is beyond frustrating. It is infuriating.

Imagine next, on top of being a second class citizen in your own city of lip-service liberals, death after death of unarmed black men by white cops who get away with it. At some point, you have to do something. They did something. It was a mess.

The protest worked.

@4 I think the portmanteau in this case is the username, JonathanLivingstonNazgul69, a combination of Jonathan Livingston Seagull and LOTR's Nazgul. The 69 isn't really part of the portmanteau; it's just there because, obviously, someone else had already thought of it first, so the number is needed for differentiation and mutual funsies.

You got yourself a bummer typo in there.

@9 You don't understand the nuances of white privilege and why there's a difference between a white woman being a racist piece of shit, and a black man being Charles Mudede.

Your heart is in the right place, but this is basically like trying to invent the Beatles and ending up with the Monkees.

@3 Totally true. All dead artists who changed the medium forever are no longer relevant after they've been dead for a while. Warhol, Hendrix, Shakespeare, Homer, Kahlo, Nijinsky, Mozart, Hemingway, et al = IRRELEVANT, and becoming less relevant each year.
