Goodbye to the Tokyo.
Yes! More coverage of classical music, please! This is great. Would love to see more, including coverage of the local choral music scene.

Why I Will Never Move to Bothell.
They migrate out there from all over the city every night at dusk. It's a pretty cool thing to watch -- you can follow them down Lake City Way through Kenmore to Bothell.
Or, as the sign to Bothell sometimes says, "Welcome to Hell, for a day or for a lifetime."

Have You Gotten Your Flu Vaccine Yet?.
Also, when I went to the emergency room, the doc told me that the flu shot isn't protecting everyone this year. SO, if you get the shot, you might still get sick, but it's a whole lot less likely that you will.

Have You Gotten Your Flu Vaccine Yet?.
I got the flu over the Christmas holiday. I've never been so sick in my life. I spent seven days in bed (literally). I had a temp of 103, and had to go to the emergency room for a chest x-ray. I tested positive for influenza A, and am STILL coughing two weeks later, even though I took the full course of tamilflu.
I'm pretty healthy and fit, but if someone with a compromised immune system caught this bug, it could definitely kill them. Getting the flu shot isn't just about protecting YOU from getting sick, but about improving the herd immunity, too. When you have a flu shot, you make it less likely that your colleagues/family/strangers will get sick.

Because the Internet Is the Place for Doctoring.
Honestly, sounds like the flu. Have you been running a fever? I was once so sick with the flu in college that I couldn't walk down the four flights of stairs to my dining hall. Friends had to bring food to me for almost a week. But yes, it started with weakness and pain in the skin.

SL Letters of the Day: TOP Has Other Options.
I had an IUD for eight months, and it was agony. I would have spontaneous cramps that were so bad I would nearly black out. When this started happening while I was driving, I had it removed. The IUD can be great for many women, but from what I've experienced and what I've heard from friends, it is NOT APPROPRIATE for women who haven't had children.
Because the cervix has never been dilated in women who haven't had children, the cervix can be much more cranky, resulting in the symptoms I had. Your mileage may vary, but it was definitely NOT a pain-free straightforward solution for me.

2012 Genius Awards Short List.
Dan Webb is my pick. The piece of his in the Seattle Art Museum makes me want to weep and smash things every time I see it. His work is amazing.
