If they are protesting inside a train or station then yeah, sorry. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences, and these measures sound reasonable -- not to mention virtually unenforceable, considering the volume of traffic on Bart.

But how exactly would they be able to single out people using Bart to travel to a street protest?

@8, The problem here is vigilante justice not as a last resort but as your only line of defense. Personally I wouldn't want to live someplace where people just shoot each other rather than calling the police, but for some this is probably a dream come true.

@61, You are correct that this is an example of democracy in action and the people of Portland have made their voices heard, however this is a scientific issue and that is where the discussion should be happening, but clearly it is not. I'm guessing 60% of Portland voters are not epidemiologists. If they were this election would have had a much different outcome.
