I can understand how tiring this must be for you, this small amount of death, this incident that terrifies and gets distorted in the public consciousness because of the seeming randomness and indiscriminate identity and number of victims. But let us worry about that. Go ahead and write off its impact on a community, you poor weary soul - because this is about you!
I just hope one day soon we can protect you from all the hysteria, since you can't protect yourself.
commented on Draft of Mayor Ed Murray's "Plan E" to Save Metro Obtained by The Stranger; Looks Remarkably Like Proposition 1
@7: for a good explanation of why Metro needs it, why not just read the article you linked to? Careful, though - you have to read at least to the eighth paragraph before you find it. Go ahead; we'll wait.
More generally, this ballot measure would pass if it were the only solution, I guess. But it's not regional, it's not collaborative, and it's not original, which is what Murray said it would be. He should never have complained about leadership on the issue unless he planned to show some.
Looking forward to voting Yes on 118.

commented on Conservative Gun Nuts Proudly Defend Rights of Man to Use Federal Land Without Paying
@27: totally agreed! Another good way to prevent massive pollution and overuse of land and the need for aggressive federal oversight would be to establish a simple fee structure. That way only people who benefited from using the land would have access to it, it wouldn't get overused, and the Feds wouldn't be going in there all the time to push people around.
commented on Anti-Foie Gras Billboard Circling Amazon HQ This Week
I have an idea: I'm going to generally eat what I want, try to avoid saturated fats and cholesterol, talk to my doctor about my weight gain goals, try to eat more whole grains and organic veggies when I can, paying attention to where my food comes from and consuming whatever I purchase so it doesn't go to waste, but generally choosing my diet based on taste, seasonal availability, and my own ethical standards which will always be different from (and more fitting to my lifestyle and moral calculus) than pretty much everyone else ever.
And the simple corollary is that anyone who tries to tell me to do differently can fuck off.
