commented on Seattle City Council Public Safety Committee Confirms Police Chief Nominee, But Is She Ready to Take On Anti-Reform Officers?
"Isn't that the opposite of how an efficient business—O'Toole has repeatedly said she'd like run SPD like one—would operate? If there are employees who aren't on board with the change she's pushing, shouldn't they be penalized in some way?"
Um, actually, in a business in which you have long-term employees - in this case with tenure - bringing in the hatchet man isn't "the most efficient" way to proceed. You'll read plenty of management books - and hear from real life managers, like me - that reaching out to and slowly swaying the doubters to your side is by far the more "efficient" way of proceeding. As much as it may disappoint you, starting a bloodbath isn't usually the best first step.

Oh, good! It looks like our plan to spread democracy and freedom like chlamydia is proceeding apace. These people are clearly freely choosing to form a horribly backwards Islamic Caliphate by voting with bullets. Hooray!

commented on How Did Hollywood's Leading Men Get So Ripped?
Yeah, I just don't think a Hollywood steroid scandal is in the cards. I mean, who *doesn't* think those guys are jacked up on 'roids? There's no way, as mentioned above, that any dude over 35 is going to be built and ripped like that without test, HGH, and any number of other things. I think they get away with it because it has become expected, and the hypersexualization of the male form is well underway.
So - steroid scandal? Not likely. Huge body images for young men? very likely. And all of the issues that go with that when/if they discover that bodies like that aren't natural or easy to come by.
And this from the 44 year-old who thanks to a Low T prescription for test is finally getting the gym body I've always wanted.
