In my experience, when gay guys say they're "not like other gay people," they mean they're not some femmy fag. The disavowal is about perceptions of gender and masculinity, not sex. Stupid internalized homophobia.

At least that's what it's been every time I've seen a kid say it. Maybe you hang out with different young gays.

I wouldn't describe this as a heartwarming resolution. Yeah, it shows that Texas A&M has a student body President who is not a bigot or a troglodyte. But it doesn't change the fact that more than half their student Senators are.

@7 Not necessarily. Plenty of DOMA-like state laws (most of them? all of them?) already forbid recognizing marriages from other states. What it will probably mean is another Supreme Court case to determine whether the Constitution's "Full Faith and Credit" clause trumps "the power of the states to regulate marriage." For straights, marriages (and divorces) are universally recognized regardless of the state. But who knows, maybe Kennedy would think forcing them to recognize gay marriages would be too much of a intrusion.

Wait - and this is a totally minor point - but if the course was calling itself an AP course it should have had its curriculum approved way back around 2006. The CB has been requiring that for years and years now.
