Yeah, it's a copy of that.

The signifier of SB's objectivity and superior intellectual understanding of the situation is his repeated use of the word "twerp" to describe the young man.

"At 20 his parents were providing food, shelter and a car for this toddler. At 20 I had a decent apartment, a truck and a boat and the job that paid for them. Oh, and I was paying for college.

"And I was even born in a ditch! And it was not a dry ditch! No! Wet as a sop, with a foot of water in it! And if this young man were to come to me for a job, he'd be expecting me to spread turkey carpets on the floor, and want me to feed him turtle soup and venison with a silver spoon! Which I am not a-going to do!"

So on one hand, Mom says that she's known since he was "a tiny little boy" that he was gay.

On the other hand, she says that she doesn't believe God creates anyone "that way", and believes he has made a choice.

So...does she think he made a choice to be gay at the age of two? How about three? Maybe four?

The cognitive dissonance makes my head hurt.

I teach in a high school. There's a whole lot of brain-dead teens I'd be tempted to euthanize.

Wait a minute! I thought that straight people were responsible and gay people were the sex-crazed monsters! Where was I when the world turned upside down?

" I think liberals tend to be more likely to move near light rail and in my experience liberals tend to already be happier people."

@7-- you said, "As for the claim that it "hurts guys too" the thing called Savage is as usual lying about the article to which it links. First, the sociologist doesn't mention a negative effect on men...."

How about:

"Studying a group of 15 young evangelical Christian men, Diefendorf found that support groups and open discussions about sex with trusted companions were key in helping the men during their pre-marital years. But once married, she found these men encountered trouble."

"Many of them opened up to struggles with pornography and masturbation, which some considered "destructive" and a threat to their commitment to abstinence."

"They wished for more guidance from the church"

"While the whole point of these support groups is to honor sex in marriage, these men have gotten so used to thinking about sex as something negative that they bring those concerns with them to the marriage bed,"

Sounds to me like there is a lot of stuggling going on, and a conflicted attitude toward sex even within marriage seems, to me, to be a negative effect.

@3 Here's a crazy thought: Even if Michael Brown was 6'4 and nearly 300 pounds, and even if he was behaving aggressively, and even if he was shot from the front instead of the back, some people*still* might find shooting him six times a bit...excessive.
