those people didn't deserve Void anyway...

my bandmates and I have been discussing jumping approximately two dozen rungs on the ladder of celebrity success and doing our own fragrance. we just need to find a perfumer who can combine the scents of butane, cocaine, lemonade and lead paint.

having never seen Nine Inch Nails, I'm seriously toying with going this time. especially since I was on tour when he did his "farewell" shows, what? 4 years ago? however... having Explosions In The Sky open instead of Godspeed You Black Emperor like they are on the Least Coast is a major slap in the face.

could you please save your nostalgic ramblings and thought-crippling non sequiturs for Slog? I promise to no longer post there if you do the same here.

I was going through a period about four to six months ago where I was constantly thinking about deleting my profile. this was a huge deal because of the amount of promotion I do on FB, not to mentioned the fact that it's pretty much my only platform for clearing out the cobwebs (hi! I've been trying avoid Slog lately!). shit was getting to me in a way that I couldn't handle any longer; everyone in my feed was either on grotesque self-improvement kick that they constantly felt the need to brag about, or wouldn't stop whining about how their lives sucked. sure, people got blocked or deleted, but a lot of the annoyance was directed at people I genuinely like IRL, so to cut them off would eventually have become awkward. anyway, I obviously never went through with the deleting, as I'm sure you know, Grant. nowadays, rather than focusing on the obnoxious things people do with their profiles, I've been concentrating on the mundane shit. like when someone just talks about pumping their bike tires, or going pants shopping, or pretends visiting Sacramento is worth an exclamation point...

as far as using social networking for jobs, it barely comes up in FB. I have a LinkedIn profile that I never use. my job is pretty much all about face to face interaction with people, so cultivating that profile never seemed to be a big deal. also, I would never work at a place that took investigating someone's online presence seriously. besides the obvious discretion Matt From Denver refers to, it's not worth my time to impress someone, or an organization, like that. they'd find out soon enough I'm hell of weird even without me burying my personal profiles under a ton of privatization settings.

if people have no idea what a hectare is, how will they know how far the car will go on a single tank of kerosene?

isn't this the same VietNam that's been genre-hopping for the better part of a decade within all the sounds you'd expect from a bunch of NY guys with beards?

these days?? have you and The Internet ever been formally introduced?

I would have voted for the poncho guy if we were actually voting for the gas can he's holding. that's a good look. as it stands, I'm torn between the blue dress and the James Dean shirt.

"Touch Me" by The Doors is always my fall back. also, "I Would Die 4 U" by Prince and "Running Scared" by Roy Orbison...but I usually do the more affected, Nick Cave delivery.

and again: Yos, well played. we still need to hang out more.

what?! what the fuck are you talking about, man? how is saying "I'd like to see people up front dancing" being a dick? I never said anything about how that should be a rule and that I wish people who crossed it were thrown out or anything. I appreciate anyone who comes to my shows. it's simply stating a preference. and again, this isn't about me.

Matt, I like you...you seem to be one of the more intelligent contributors here who is not totally consumed by their own ego. and you kind of remind me of an older version me. but seriously, I get why people call you a troll. days after everyone left this conversation, you come back solely to call me a dick? the only reason that I found out you responded is because the thread is still listed as one of the most commented. you are clearly not that obtuse, so I can only assume you'rejust fucking with me. boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

that's not my point and you know it. I don't care about seeing the moshing...no one does. but it usually happens closer to the front. now the front seems to be taken up by people recording with their phones. as a musician, I want to see people up front dancing, moshing, generally getting into it, rather than holding their security blanket in the air.
