commented on A Poll About Whether Brendan Kiley Should Be Killed
It took me a couple weeks after I moved to Seattle before I realized that I needed to start reading the Stranger on Thursday instead of Monday so that I wouldn't miss something over the weekend. Now that I've switched, I'd hate to read on Thursday that something is happening on Sunday only to realize that you mean 10 days from now instead of 3 days from now. 10 days is too far out. I'll forget about it by then.

So considering that Russia is the country vetoing UN resolutions and sanctions against Russia, shouldn't we be calling for boycotts and protests against the Olympics and Russian vodkas over this as well? Considering all the human rights violations performed and endorsed by Putin, it is starting to seem hypocritical to only take action when its gay rights on the line.

@3 I've formulated a theory as to how the court ruled as they did on prop 8. I haven't heard anyone else who has thought it, so take it with a grain of salt. What seemed to surprise everyone was how the conservative justices were the ones invalidating on the technicality of "standing". It was mostly liberal justices that wanted the court to rule on the constitutionality of prop 8. I postulate that there were 5 votes to legalize gay marraige nation wide as a constitutionally protected right. The only way the conservative justices could stop this from happening was to convince one judge to vote with them on the standing issue
commented on What Do You Think of the Aftershock Trailer?
I'm intrigued by the idea of a natural-disaster mob-rule style torture porn. Things like Saw and Hostel outgrew their welcome far too fast, and this seems like a solid refresh of the genre.
But then they lost me with the final 10 seconds of the trailer. Yet another death by car from suddenly off screen, and a tsunami is a really lame plot point for a movie that sold me on the concept of "human nature." It went from "I'll watch this" to "Nope, it's going to be lame."
