Don't forget the Dan Rather (Evolution Control Committee) classic Rocked By Rape.

More hard news would be nice, but Goldy seemed to have the occasional tendency to go off half-cocked and get things completely wrong. Though that alone wouldn't have been as big of a problem if it weren't coupled with an incredibly caustic attitude. (I think either one can work fine in journalism -- go off half-cocked but then apologize profusely later, or be heartless and caustic but always right.)

@3, what makes it bad? It seems infinitely better than most brutalist plop art. Do you find it too pop? I mean, it's not Nelson's Column, or even My Lonesome Cowboy, but something that's a bit comic book-y still seems preferable to another goddamn granite toroid or rough concrete polyhedron.

Hey, Paul, we all know you hate Amazon, so there's really no need to use this otherwise-heartening story to tell us how you feel about Amazon. You spent about 50% of the space talking about their Amazon transgression. Why not just send them a polite note suggesting they consider using a non-Amazon source? That would have the effect of possibly still advancing your viewpoint without making it seem like you're shitting on them.

I really don't get the Seattle Times Editorial Board. Many other newspapers at least make an attempt to accurately represent arguments from both sides of the issue they're writing on, even when they ultimately come down squarely on one side. The Times doesn't really seem like they put in a real effort. Does nobody really like writing these things? Wouldn't it feel better to at least *pretend* you gave the other side a reasonable assessment before rendering your predetermined conclusion?

I always feel sorry for the little old ladies crossing 12th & Jackson at 5pm. The light gives barely enough time for the average-speed walker to get across at the beginning, let alone when Dont Walk starts blinking.

To go along with food porn, science porn, etc, should we start referring to plain ol' porn as "sex porn"?

@43, that was in response to "if you can't afford a smartphone, you can't afford a taxi ride either, so moot point."

@40, please tell that to the many blind people in this city who are on very low incomes, yet manage to have that bundle of taxi fare ready for the times when they need to make a trip and they can't find a bus, wait for an access van, walk, or hitchhike.

@38, those are both descriptions of "invitation to treat", not settling a debt already owed (as in the case of cab fare).
