People who inhale smoke of ANY stripe into their lungs regularly, on a long term basis will almost certainly pay a price later in life. Emphysema, COPD, dragging around an oxygen tank everywhere you go- doesn't look like fun to me. To pretend these risks do not exist seems delusional to me. Eat it.

People. Lighten up! From some of the comments you would think that whether the sun rises or not tomorrow will be determined by what Nancy chooses to do and how Carl reacts to it. Have fun Nancy! Even if Carl isn't wild about what you choose I'm pretty sure the sun will rise tomorrow and your relationship will be just fine anyway (unless there is some REAL reason it isn't).

One of the great adventures of life is figuring out who you are. The greater the difference between who we portray ourselves as/think we are and the actuality, the bumpier the ride. Witness LW1. I thought Dan struck a good balance between "grow the fuck up" & being a sympathetic ear and offering goods advice.....Vennominon's comment(@78) is a good addition:
"And when you've calmed down about this, you might want to stop thinking gay people should all kill themselves," or something to that effect".

Gay/straight, feminine/masculine, want pussy/want dick, want to dominate/be dominated- they're all continuums and where we fall on one doesn't necessarily determine where we fall on the others. Realizing that makes unnecessary much mental anguish.

And no, Guttmacher is not some pro life shill; quite the opposite. Problem is, it's hard to focus on education and prevention when basic reproductive rights are under full scale attack. Parents, educate your children because the right is making damn sure they won't be, and woe unto us all if they win in November. "Safe, legal and rare" seems like a distnat dream.

@40: right on. great job of painting a very clear picture of how things might look farther down the line. sure it's all fun and sexy now, but something is being compromised. "don't be that guy"- good advice. didn't realize it till now but the two letters, although radically different, and from opposite perspectives, are about the same issue. advice to CRAP is also advice to SCIL's current husband. DON'T BE THAT GUY.

@ THIN: If you make the person's physical appearance the focal point in determining who you will form a relationship with, you are dooming yourself and the unfortunate people you end up with. Certainly being sexually/physically attracted to someone is on the long list of attributes that lead to good relationships, but if it is THE attribute that got you together, the predicted shelf life of the relationship is about the same as a gallon of milk.
