What a lazy article. There is so much to write about on this theme. What about the Main Streets these monstrosities destroyed, and the low wage jobs that taxpayers subsidized -- jobs that replaced middle income manufacturing jobs that were outsourced to China by Walmart? What will become of small town America and the poor families that depended on these jobs -- even if the sucked? Surely there is more to the story than eluding to the failure of Republican policies.

Or maybe car sales are "booming" because the last time there was a car sales boom was before President Obama took office -- before Bush's Great Recession. Cars have a limited life span and the US fleet is aging. At least new cars will be more fuel efficient, or maybe even electric.

Cars, sadly, are still a necessity for many families -- especially lower income families -- to get to work. Those are the families who probably can't afford to live in the city centers where they work. Not everyone lives in a city or near public transit. Our own public transit system is miserable and hardly one you could depend on for everything -- especially commuting long distances.

Guns, though, are not a necessity. Gun sales are fueled by fear-mongering from the gun manufacturing political arm, the NRA. Those are selling because every time we have a massacre, they tell people Obama is going to take away their guns, so stock up!

Combining the two industries is provocative, but intellectually dishonest.
Nov 27, 2015 Simply Me commented on Live Coverage: Two Arrests Reported as Black Lives Matter Protests Move Through Downtown Seattle.
#blacklivesmatter is achieving their goal of interrupting families trying to celebrate Christmas, but I wonder when they will do more movement building, the strategic but vitally important work of political power building like electing people of color, building a narrative that wins hearts and minds rather than turns them off like some of the shoppers today, and perhaps recruiting people from within their movement to be police officers so the change can come from within. Protest is only one part of social change, but to achieve the change you believe in there needs to be so much more.

@19 He's not playing dumb. He's just a terrible reporter.

@30 Thanks to voters who have a long history of turning down money for public transit. Selective history is a silly way to win a debate.

How soon you forget how this mayor works. He is a conensus builder. This was common place once, now for some reason bringing opposing views to a table to find agreement invites scorn? Once again Anzel is leading you astray with misleading open ended questions that lead to no real conspiracy.

We have room in our home for him if he needs a place to stay.

Sorry to offend @25. You are right.

@13 maybe you're right, but it isn't a winning strategy. The good ones are already gravetating to boutique and start up firms -- or even better starting their own company. I know it is a privledged position, but if I can help it I will never lend my life to an employer who doesn't treat me fairly. My talent and time is worth more than that. So is yours.
