I *always* try to keep my Brian in the loop.

First: Blackmail? Get outta here. She doesn't need any of that stuff. The instant they do the sex, his ass is hers. He's toast.

Second: Seandr's attitude is always refreshingly evil. I tip my hat, sir.

People say the Internet has shortened attention spans.

This QT column might be evidence of that.

Or maybe one-sentence paragraphs are just perpetually hip.

It's hard to say.
Apr 18 Lance Thrustwell commented on SL Letter of the Day: Stepdad Seeking.
This whole thing just doesn't make sense. 1) how does she know he's gay? Is she basing it on this discovery, or did she know it already? 1a: if the former, he could be bi or just imaginatively bi. 1b: if the latter, did she really *know* it, or was she just guessing?
2) she asked her Mom about her sex life? WTF kind of family is this? 2a: they're "currently" monogamous? That qualifier right there indicates they have some sort of unorthodox marital relationship. Maybe even his stepping out isn't that big a deal.
3) Who should she confront? Well, if anyone, obviously her stepdad first. But - is he gay? If he is, does he know she knows? How big a deal would the talk be?

People need to provide more information!
Apr 14 Lance Thrustwell commented on This Morning's NYT Book Review.
...I have to admit I agree with #9 - Dan's review doesn't actually say very much about the structure and content of Chu's book, other than to take serious issue with a) some apparently major problems it has in consistency and fairness, and b) oh, its ENTIRE PREMISE - that gay people's need to reconcile themselves to Christianity somehow is valid and necessary. And then he says it's "thoughtful" and "important?" Why?

I may not be the shiniest frog in the blender, but I gotta admit I don't get it.
Apr 14 Lance Thrustwell commented on HUMP! 2013 Call for Submissions!.
@21 - I'm laughing so hard, I'm gonna fall into a tacoma.

On a different note - why the 5-minute limit? I mean, that may be all the time some people (*cough*) need, but really. Would it cut out that many people if they went to, I don't know, 7 minutes? Are there really that many submissions?

I ordinarily have some sympathy for this kind of bonehead big-rock power-ballad belting, even when done poorly. But stupid AND wrong - that's just not a good combination. I made it one minute.
Apr 11 Lance Thrustwell commented on Today in Legislative Developments.
@19 - it sure is! Of course, in a way, they have indeed been 'insta-banned' - by Lawrence v. Texas in 2003. But it should have happened way earlier, and for among other things) exactly the reason you describe. I'm just glad that "Gomorration" never caught on, or we'd have even more old Bible-based relics to pry out of our penal codes.
Mar 10 Lance Thrustwell commented on SL Letter of the Day: Double Bi Standard.
Nothing like old letters... but seriously, thank you, @29. I have personally used the term "bi-romantic" as opposed to "bisexual" for some time now, and have always wondered why more people don't use that very convenient term.

Oh, and more women are "bi-romantic" than men. That's obvious. There aren't many of them (some women don't even know they are until they fall in love with someone of a previously un-enticing gender), but a truly bi-romantic man is a real rarity (I'm looking at you, #30).
Mar 10 Lance Thrustwell commented on My Information's Running Loose!.
@40 (and @36) Agreed - that is interesting. Although I think that principle is understandable without the need for all that statistical analysis: weed out the hard cases & smart alecks and get straight to the suckers. Same reason a smart telemarketer hangs up fast when they can tell you're not going to buy.
